“What about Tank?” she asks.
“What about Tank? You made him the happiest man alive last night. He’s probably making a scrapbook to commemorate the day.”
She shoots me a look of disgust. “Exactly. You know he’s going to get hurt. No matter what happens here, he’s the one that’s got the most to lose. I love him way too much to let that happen. You and I, we’re all sorts of not right. We didn’t grow up with a normal family or expectations of a good and happy life. We’re used to everything going to shit all around us.”
She’s right about Tank.
He’s from a totally different planet than either of us. He has a mom and dad who love him dearly and are proud of him no matter what he does. He played football in high school and graduated from a technical school months earlier than he should’ve because he is just that smart, and he knew his whole life that he wanted to be a motorcycle mechanic. He keeps his head down, he does his work, makes an honest living, and he’s the best at what he does. Even though he’s my best friend, even though he’s done things for the club that would make an outsider cringe, he didn’t go through that suffering that Olive and I can both relate to.
“He’s just going with the flow because he trusts you, Red. He’s a good man.”
“You don’t trust me?” I stammer. “You don’t think I have his best interest at heart?”
“I don’t know,” she says. “After last night, I feel like I have no idea who you are anymore. Everyone likes to say you’re a player, or a big talker, or a con artist, but I never saw that side of you. But seeing you manipulate him, seeing you manipulate me… it’s a mind fuck, Red.”
“Come here,” I say, patting on the bed next to me. She sits at the edge, her feet hanging off the side, and I run my hand over her back. “I’m not manipulating anyone. I might have been the one who put the wheels in motion, but that’s because Tank wanted me to. You don’t give him enough credit. He is a Misfit himself after all.”
“Let’s be honest, though. What would Bonnie and Sheldon have to say?” she half laughs. “If their son brought home his girlfriend and her boyfriend.”
“It’s Connie. And seriously, their world revolves around him. I’m sure they’d probably pay for our honeymoon if it would make him happy.”
“He’s such a good guy, Red. I don’t ever want to see him hurt. I especially don’t want to be the one that does it to him.” She rests her head on my stomach and I run my fingers through her hair. “I mean, I’m perfectly content with destroying my life into the ground and starting over again as many times as I have to. It’s kind of my thing. Doesn’t he deserve better?”
“Olive, I don’t know how to say this enough. In our minds, you are the best. We don’t even deserve you. And you don’t want to see him hurt? Don’t hurt him. Plain and simple.”
“And you?” she asks, grabbing my hand in hers, tracing her soft fingers over my palm.
“I think it’s pretty obvious where you and I stand,” I say. I don’t have to tell her I’m crazy about her. I don’t have to tell her everything is going to be ok, because even if it isn’t, I’m still going to love her to the best of my ability. People like us know how to land on our feet. People like us know that sometimes a happily ever after isn’t something we deserve.
“You know, I haven’t told you this yet, but I always assumed if you and I ever dated it would probably end in a cocaine bender and a life sentence in some Mexican prison.”
“See why we need Tank in our lives?” I laugh. “He would definitely not go for that. He was so torn up that you weren’t there when he woke up this morning, Ollie. He thought he did something wrong. It was really endearing. He is so fucking crazy about you.”
“I probably need to go talk to him,” she says, sighing.
“You definitely do. Why don’t you throw on some clothes, grab your stuff for work tonight, hop on my bike and come over.”
She groans, and I get it. This bed is so comfy I could definitely fall asleep right here.
“I’ll lick your pussy until you explode on my face and then cook you dinner while you fuck my best friend,” I say, trying to sweeten the deal.
“You’re not right in the head, Red.” She rolls over on top of me, straddling my lap, waking up this erection I’ve been fighting to hold down ever since I smelled her pillow. “Why do you want to torture yourself like that?”
Her face is inches away from mine, her blue eyes smiling while her lips pout. I am so tempted to kiss her, but I know what I have to do.
I roll her over on her back and pin her arms over her head.
“You know I’m going to destroy you on Saturday?”
The way she giggles and writhes underneath me just makes me even more frustrated. We need to get out of here before I start making bad decisions. I plant a wet kiss on her lips and jump off the bed.
“Clock is ticking,” I tell her. “Tank’s gonna be hungry when he gets home from work, and I’m starving,” I say, flicking my tongue at her.
“That’s not sexy,” she laughs, rolling her eyes.
“We’ll see what you say about that later. Go on,” I say, swatting her ass. “Let’s go make Tank’s day.”

Olive:
I get on the back of Red’s motorcycle, feeling surprisingly better about the last twenty-four hours. I guess no matter how much I want to deny it, him and I have a special connection. He might be rude, he might be cocky, and he might say things that make me cringe, but he also wears his heart on his sleeve.
I actually really do want to see Tank, anyway. I’m pretty sure that sneaking out on him this morning wasn’t the right thing to do, but I had a lot of stuff to process. I hope I didn’t hurt his feelings too badly.
When I walk in the front door, Tank is sitting on the couch, watching TV, his feet propped up on the coffee table.
“Hey,” I say softly, putting my arm on his shoulder from behind the couch.
He looks up at me with surprise.
“What are you doing here?”
“It’s nice to see you, too, Tank,” I say, kissing him on the forehead.
“You left me this morning,” he says, just staring ahead at the TV, pretending like he’s not paying attention to me.
“I didn’t realize I was a prisoner here. I thought I could come and go as I pleased.” I am getting a little angry, but I realize I need to keep my temper in check with him. He’s the kind of a guy who takes everything to heart. I didn’t realize he was going to take this morning so personally. I sit down next to him on the couch and take his hand in mine. “I’m sorry I hurt your feelings,” I say.
Red walks into the kitchen and makes himself busy banging around pots and pans. I don’t know if he’s trying to give us space or if he just hates confrontations like this as much as I do.
“You gotta understand, you guys laid a lot on me last night. Like more than my brain could handle. I just needed to go home and think.”
“I guess I just thought it was going to be a lot easier than this. I guess I just thought when the time came, everything was going to work out perfectly.”
“That’s why I adore you, Tank,” I say, squeezing his hand tighter. “But you know nothing about this is going to be easy. And perfection is definitely off the table. We’re just going to have to take it one day at a time. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.”
“I thought we ran you off. I thought it was something I did.”
“Oh come on,” I laugh. “Do you really think you’re the one who’s gonna do something to piss me off so bad that you run me off?” I ask with a wide grin as Red joins us in the living room.
“You want me to kill him?” Tank teases.
“Not yet,” I say, shrugging. “He made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. And he’s going to make us dinner.”
“It’s so nice to come home after a long day and feel appreciated,” Red laughs. He grabs my hair and wraps it around his fist, shooting me a wink that immediately hits me right in the
core. He gives my hair a gentle tug as he stares me in the eyes.
I don’t know why, but I feel like all this weight has been lifted. These problems I keep making up in my head, they might not be resolving themselves, but I have two fully competent, sexy, and loyal men who want to solve them with me.
It’s like I feel strangely stable.
It’s turning me on.
I grab Tank by the face and kiss him, running my hands up and down his beard, swirling my tongue in his mouth until we both have to catch our breaths. He picks me up from the couch and I wrap my legs around his waist as he carries me back to the bedroom, Red following directly behind.
He drops me on my back on the bed, and I let go. I let go of all my anxious thoughts, I let go of all my worries. I feel my dress being pulled up over my head and stare up at the ceiling as Red pulls my panties down around my ankles, tossing them aside. My whole body quivers with excitement, feeling their hands all over my skin.
I reach for Tank’s zipper, eager to please him, and Red pulls me closer to the edge of the bed, spreading my legs wider and wider. The second his lips hit my inner thighs, I feel my wetness begin to trickle onto the comforter below me.
I yank Tank’s boxers down, his dick already hard as a rock, and take him in my mouth desperately, wrapping my lips around him and using my tongue to caress it up and down. His taste alone brings me closer and closer to the edge, and his moans damn near drive me off the cliff.
“Damn, girl. Your pussy is gorgeous,” Red says, his breath on my quivering slit such a tease. “So wet, too. You love sucking on Tank’s dick, don’t you.” I feel his fingers tracing circles around the outside of my mound and I buck my hips, desperate for him to touch me, to explore my folds, to find my sacred spots.
“I think she does,” Tank says. “She’s really good at it, too.”
“I’m sure she is,” Red says, still teasing me with his fingers, massaging my thighs, planting kisses on my hips, basically driving me up the wall as I wait for him to make any sort of move.
“Please,” I moan, as I slide Tank out of my mouth. “Just because you’re on some weird celibacy kick doesn’t mean you have to torture me too.”
The way he chuckles doesn’t make things any better. “You just relax, girl, and worry about that dick in your face. I know what I’m doing.” Of course he does. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s driving me absolutely batshit crazy. “I’m just savoring this moment. It’s not every day you find yourself in this position. At least not until recently.”
“I don’t think your coach would approve of this,” I whine.
“Well he’s not here right now,” he says, spreading my folds. “And don’t get any strange ideas, woman. He wasn’t in on this deal.” He breathes onto my clit and I’m pretty sure I jump two feet off the bed. I grab for Tank’s dick, craving the feeling of both of them touching me at the same time.
As he begins to shallowly thrust in and out of my mouth, Red slowly strokes his tongue up and down my slit. I rock my hips, but his grip is firm, pressing me into the mattress as he does what he pleases.
He traces my clit before lapping it firmly and my moans get louder. I feel his finger slip inside me with ease, and he works it in and out as he sucks on my tender nub. The man is a pro. Both of these men. Even with a cock in my throat, I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet. I feel like I’m the star of some amateur porn, indulging in one of those things that usually only happens when everyone is drunk enough that it sounds like a good idea.
Except I’m completely sober. And if I’ve learned anything over the last twenty-four hours, it’s that sober sex is the best kind of sex.
He knows exactly how to tease me, bringing me just that much closer to the edge and backing away over and over again, and I can tell by his stifled moans that he’s loving every minute of it. I, on the other hand, want nothing more than to just wrap my legs around his neck and stop this terrible tease. It’s frustrating in the best and worst way at the same time.
“You think I should let her cum?” Red asks him. He’s got his fingers tangled in my hair, thrusting in and out of my mouth, and I squeal, pressing my fingernails into the back of his thighs.
“I think she’s going to, whether you let her or not,” Tank growls. “I can tell by the way she’s trying to swallow me whole that she’s about to explode. I’m not far behind.”
It turns me on so much the way these two have total control over my body right now, but Tank is right. I feel like I’m going to start gushing like I never have before. One flick of the tongue in just that right way, and I’m going to be completely and utterly…
Done.
He knows exactly how to push that button, and if he didn’t have my thighs gripped tightly in the palms of his hands, I would probably be levitating off the bed. The orgasm rips through me like nothing I’ve ever felt before, and I dig my nails harder into Tank’s thighs, taking him deeper and deeper until I feel him swell and erupt in my throat.
“Oh fuck, Olive,” he yells, his climax coming to a hilt right in tune with mine.
“That’s so fucking hot,” Red says, “watching you cum with a dick in your mouth like you’re our perfect little slut. Swallow it, Ollie,” he growls.
The way he talks dirty to me is music to my ears. It’s pretty much my number one turn-on, and I sloppily swallow Tank’s load, savoring the taste of this sexy stud, licking his dick perfectly clean while they both watch, waves of orgasms still flowing through me.
They’re kissing me all over, running their fingers through my hair, all these loving touches that just make me feel like, as strange as this is, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m not just some slut they bang and share in the bedroom, I’m the girl they can share their entire lives with, their secrets, their quirks, their doting affection. I’ve barely caught my breath, and Red is already on the move.
“I’m gonna go make dinner. You guys better get cleaned up and ready for work. I don’t want you to be late,” Red says, planting a kiss on my knee, like it’s the most casual and normal thing in the world.
“What a weirdo,” Tank sighs, falling back into the bed.
“You live with him,” I say, pressing my lips to his.
“You let him see you naked,” he says.
“So do you.”
“Trust me, he’s not looking at me.”
I cuddle up against him as he wraps me in his big strong arms, completely satisfied but completely spent. I don’t know if this is the new normal, but I don’t exactly hate it.
“Guys!” Red shouts, sticking his head in the doorway. “Hurry up before your food gets cold.”
“Alright, grandma,” I laugh.
“I sure do hope you wouldn’t kiss your grandmother with a mouth like yours, young lady. I’ve seen where it’s been.”
I blow him a kiss from across the room as Tank gathers up my clothes strewn all over the floor.
“You know, you are a really good influence on him,” Tank says. “Having you around. Normally, the week before a big fight, he’s wound tight as hell. He’s mean as shit and I can’t even stand to be here.”
“You’re cute,” I say, throwing my clothes on. “If anyone’s a good influence on him, it’s you. You’re the one who’s here for his constant insanity.”
“Well he is a really good cook,” Tank says, zipping up his jeans.
“Why does that not surprise me?”
We sit around the dinner table like a family, not like a bunch of heathens who just did some pretty nasty stuff all over Tank’s bed. Red made lemon chicken breasts, broccoli, and roasted potatoes. It’s a major upgrade from the toaster waffles I’d probably be eating if left to my own devices tonight. It’s not that I can’t cook, it’s that I’m too lazy to grocery shop.
“You have to make sure you ask Gavin for Saturday night off,” Red says. “I’m gonna book our hotel room tonight.”
“Are you sure you want me there?” I ask him. I’ve seen him fight many times befor
e. He’s good. He’s definitely one of the best in the state, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go pro in the very near future.
“You don’t want to come?” He looks offended.
“I don’t want to see you get hurt,” I say. “It stresses me out.” In the past, I’d have no trouble standing on the sidelines, cheering him on to victory while he bleeds all over the ring, but now, the thought of him getting hit even once kind of upsets me.
“You don’t have to watch. You can hang out in the locker room. But I definitely want you there. Both of you, obviously.”
I feel like this is a huge step for him, asking me to be there with him. It’s almost like he’s saying I’m his old lady without saying it. Guys like Red don’t ever say it though. I’m ok with that.
“I’ll ask him,” I say, and his eyes light up. “Thank you for dinner, by the way. I need to commandeer your bathroom for the next hour though. I can’t go to work with freshly fucked hair. I’m sure someone will call me out on it.”
* * *
“You ready to go?” Tank asks as I come out of the bathroom. He’s got his jacket and boots on.
“You’re coming with me?”
“Why wouldn’t I? I always help you close.”
“It’s not going to be weird?” I ask. I mean, things have changed in the last twenty-four hours. I don’t know if having him around while I work is going to be a distraction. Then again, it was a distraction having him around before, only in that unrequited lust kind of way.
“It’s only weird if you make it weird, Ollie,” Red says, handing me my coat. “Have a good night, babe.” He kisses me gently on the lips. “You drive slowly, Tank. And no drinking. If there’s one hair out of place on her head, I’m going to use you as my punching bag.”
“What are you getting into tonight?” I ask.
